This volume presents an interdisciplinary, holistic study of the schola tomb of the public priestess Mamia, one of Pompeii's most iconic funerary monuments located outside the Herculaneum Gate. Originating from a collaborative initiative between the Archaeological Park of Pompeii and the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Perugia, the research synthesizes archaeological, historical, and technical perspectives. The work contextualizes Mamia's civic role—notably her dedication of the Temple of the Genius Augusti—within broader patterns of public gratitude and elite civic patronage (munificentia) in Augustan Pompeii. Additionally, the volume traces the monument's modern reception and influence on 18th- and 19th-century European art, landscape design, and visual culture. Complemented by comprehensive hydrological, botanical, structural, geotechnical, and agricultural-chemical reports, this publication offers a methodological model for holistic monument documentation, heritage conservation, and environmental site management.
